The Company rents 3.5 millions of Kegs and casks for short-term and long term periods. They were looking for RFID solution for asset tracking.
Having an inventory of millions of similar looking kegs and casks and managing them was a tedious task. Imagine performing a stock take on millions of assets using paper and markers, it would take months and a large workforce to complete such a large inventory stock take. And the outcome of such activity is prone to human error.
DreamzCMMS solution team studied the problem in depth and proposed using RFID as an effective solution. RFID which is integrated with DreamzCMMS to meet specific business needs of the customer.
While preparing their asset register team serialized all their assets with uniquely identified RFID serial numbers. During asset serialization handheld RFID scanners were used to include the assets into the platform. Asset serialization included labeling the assets with a RFID tag. Then it comes performing a group scan using a handheld scanner which could scan 1000s of assets in one scan in a designated section.
This process took a couple of weeks to complete and at the end over 3.3 M unique kegs and casks assets were added into their inventory.
Once all the assets have been RFID labeled, it is now effortless to track assets and perform inventory cycle counts.
With RFID gates installed at various checkpoints and assets passing through those on conveyor belts and forklifts. It becomes smooth to track assets going out for rent, coming back after returns or even going for maintenance works.
When they want to perform inventory cycle count, they just use the handheld scanner which has an android app developed specifically for the purpose. The customer now needs a little workforce to perform this with ease. This process is free from human error and quick.
Whenever they receive assets returning after use, they scan them efficiently using RFID scanners or pass them through RFID gates and send them for maintenance before putting them into inventory.
They have created standard checklists for their asset types which are attached to the work order and scan assets in bulk using RFID scanner and link them to work orders. After completion of maintenance work, they again scan and verify if all the assets in the work order are maintained.
After completion of the work order they push the same report to the inventory where it is again verified and cross checked and taken into inventory.
